After researching the different surfaces I then went into Maya to recreate them. Modeling a very basic shape of the objects and using the trusty mia_material_x I begun to adjust the settings to resemble the different properties of the surfaces.
Firstly was the plastic container, having to find the right texture was kind of difficult. Plastic has a shiny but also dull surface, keeping my reflective at 50% and glossiness low but not zero I felt recreated that. Turning up the roughness also helped with creating the synthetic look of plastic. The colour doesn’t really matter as plastic comes in a wide range on colours.
Creating a LEAF surface was a bit of a challenge, without the right bumps and a lot more work its hard to make it look right. Setting the roughness up halfway and playing with the glossiness and reflectivity the leaf does come close with what I was trying to recreate, but honestly I think it needs more work.
The Mango was my favorite to recreate but also a challenge. The colour differs among mangos so it was hard to get the right amount of yellow and orange. but a ramp and fractal soon fixed that. The roughness is set quite high and the glossiness way down to give it that skin look.
